Wall Mount Plate

The Waiter ECC touchscreen is normally mounted in the same location as the original Intellitec operator panel. The original opening is to small and will prevent the touchscreen from resting flush against the wall. The opening must be made taller by approximately ¼ inch. A template is included in the upgrade kit to test and mark the opening required. The template can also be downloaded from web site.

The touchscreen rests on the bottom of the opening with its back recessed inside the wall. Its held in place by two Velcro strips adhered to the wall and the touchscreen.

On rare occasions two issues have come up:

1) The space inside the hollow wall isn’t deep enough for the rear of the touchscreen to recess into.

2) The Velcro adhesive pulls away from the wall, or pulls the cover material (wall paper, etc) away from the wall.

In any case its been up to the installer to adapt the installation and provide a solution to this problem, i.e. a frame, spacer, backing plate, etc..

WALL MOUNT PLATE

We initially contacted vendors who specialize in manufacturing plastic components, specifically injection molding.    Creating the mold would cost $10,000 to $20,000, and in quantities of 100,000,  price per unit would be in the 10-25 cents each.   GULP,  with projected sales of wall plates at 100 – 200 units a year,  this would drive the cost to $200 – $400 per wall plate… With such a low quantity, the only alternative would be to 3d print the wall plates.

The 3d printed wall plate won’t be as smooth and pretty as an injection molded component,  but we believe customers will be happy with the product at a significant lower price.

To assist installers with a ready made option, we’ve developed a wall mount frame/plate that provides a more stable wall mount and adds some addition clearance on the rear of the touchscreen. READ MANUAL HERE

The wall plate was developed using the web based 3D authoring tool TinkerCAD, we’ve made the file available to the public to download, modify, and 3D print if you have that capability. You can also download the STL file in our DOWNLOAD section.

We use a fine detail .04 mm nozzle that takes a little over 8 hours to print using PLA filament.
