On the original Atwood water heaters control was performed by a 140 degree temperature sensor and could not be changed. This sensor was a simple switch that opened when the temperature was above 140 degrees and closed when the temperature was lower than 115 degrees.
The Waiter ECC water heater control is a simple add on that allows the operator to set the water temperature to a value between 90 and 140 degrees. The Waiter ECC doesn’t replace the existing water heater controller, it simply adds a set of relay contacts between the current temperature switch and the controller, allowing control to operate at a lower temperature. None of the safety features of the original water heater controller are altered.
TEMPERATURE
OFF –
140 – disables the Waiter ECC control. water temperature is controlled by the original sensor.
AUTO – Waiter ECC controls the temperature.
HOW IT WORKS
When the water heater is powered ON, the OEM control module monitors a 140 degree temperature switch. When the water temperature drops below 140, the switch closes and signals the controller to turn on the gas. Whne the water temperature goes above 140 degrees, the switch opens and the controller shuts off the gas.
The Waiter ECC places a set of normally closed relay contacts in series with the original temperature switch. When the water temperature reaches the Waiter ECC set point, the relay is energized, opening the circuit to the controller. The controller see the circuit open and shuts off the gas,
