2001 Bounder 36U (Feb 2021)
Just want to post up about a recent upgrade to my 2001 Bounder 36U that I would highly recommend – decided to purchase the Waiters ECC system to replace my old Intellitec system which ‘worked’, but always left me wanting a little more. Then about two months ago I broke the slider for mode selection and began using a scissor, and knew it had to go.
I decided to buy the Waiter’s because it looked like a nice upgrade to an antiquated system – looks were not deceiving. I placed my order and received an email almost immediately offering to upgrade me to a newer version that was fully plug and play instead of an older one that would have required some new wires run – score! Received in mail 3 days later, the day before my departure to Florida, and brought it along for the ride.
Finally got to installing it yesterday, and man I can’t say enough good things. Plug and play truly meant PLUG AND PLAY – I did not have to do a darn thing but unplug a couple connectors and splice in the inline power switch – other than enlarging the existing hole in my wall by about a 0.25″/3″ rectangle to allow the new screen to fit snugly where the old control unit was screwed in. Beginning to end the install was literally 15 minutes, and now I have a nice little screen that gives me a wealth more information compared to the old stupid Intellitec unit (outdoor temp using provided probe, indoor temp on each thermostat, AC amp draw, DC house voltage), and allows for No-BS temperature adjustment using NUMBERS instead of a questionably-accurate sliding mechanism (plus a schedule function which will be nice on those cold mornings). Nothing ground breaking, but a nice boost into the 21st century (using information that’s ALREADY flowing through the pins).
